Warren Buffett:
“I was lucky to have the right heroes. Tell me who your heroes are and I’ll tell you how you’ll turn out to be. The qualities of the one you admire are the traits that you, with a little practice, can make your own, and that, if practiced, will become habit forming.”
“You are lucky in life if you have the right heroes. I advise all of you, to the extent you can, to pick out a few heroes.”
“The best thing I did was choose the right heroes.”
So choosing a hero is not just a nice thing to do but “the best thing”.
Without choosing a hero networking is gonna be random with RANDOM RESULTS.
If you choose the right hero – you found your perfect network. If your heros are Warren Buffett and Peter Thiel then it makes sense to connect with people who has similar heroes because you understand each other and heading in the same direction.
Why PT?
Before PT my hero was Warren Buffett but the problem is Buffett very old so it doesn’t make much sense to connect to someone who will die in the next 5 years. So I started to think who is the next Warren Buffett… that’s how I started to think on another possibilities, choose PT and so far the more I explore his background and his ideas the more I understand that this is the right choice.
So why PT?
SUPER SUCCESSFUL SERIAL ENTREPRENEUR
Who is standing behind of success of Elon Musk? Musk is from Paypal mafia and there’s a high chance that Elon is just a marionette of Thiel)
But even if it’s not the case maybe PayPal mafia was the most important period in his life and without the period there would be no Elon Musk today… So studying the culture of PayPal mafia is a necessity.
And all the connections of PayPal mafia including PT could be used as a warm introduction to Musk.
Besides multiple successes of PayPal mafia there’re successes of Palantir pack and Thiel fellowship. (Details see below in DETAILS)
So Peter Thiel is not just a successful investor he is a super successful serial entrepreneur. And he is connected directly to a big load of super successful serial entrepreneurs including Elon Musk…
Who is more successful than PT? And who has a network which could be possibly comparable to the network of PT?
PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy is a practical subject. There’s a thing that common between Einstein and Thiel. They both have a very strong philosophical background. Young Einstein was so into philosophy that he wanted to enter philosophical university faculty and ONLY because of his father he changed his decision on physics faculty.
Peter graduated with bachelor’s degree in philosophy. It was his first degree. The second one was in law.
Why philosophy so important? In the case of Einstein he set his mind on figuring out what is the most important thing in science and only after that he invested his life into the subject. That’s exactly how Einstein made his groundbreaking discoveries. He chose the most groundbreaking topics first.
Approach of PT the same – to find what is the most important things in the world of investing and only after that invest. It takes philosophical set of mind and strong philosophical background.
My biggest heroes are Warren Buffett and Peter Thiel. Who is your biggest heroes and why?
DETAILS:
Chosing a right heroes means chosing your future network and the right associates.
Not random network and not random associates.
“You are the average of the five people you associate with most, so do not underestimate the effects of your pessimistic, unambitious, or disorganized friends. If someone isn’t making you stronger, they’re making you weaker.
Remove the splinters and you’ll thank yourself for it.” – Tim Ferris
“Always associate yourself with people who are better than you.” – Buffett
“After some other mistakes, I learned to go into business only with people whom I like, trust, and admire. As I noted before, this policy of itself will not ensure success: A second-class textile or department-store company won’t prosper simply because its managers are men that you would be pleased to see your daughter marry. However, an owner—or investor—can accomplish wonders if he manages to associate himself with such people in businesses that possess decent economic characteristics. Conversely, we do not wish to join with managers who lack admirable qualities, no matter how attractive the prospects of their business. We’ve never succeeded in making a good deal with a bad person.” – Buffett

PALANTIR PACK
“Those folks tend to be very entrepreneurial, they’re comfortable operating on their own,” Lesiva said. “So there’s an outsized amount of Palantirians that end up wanting to build a startup, and that’s how you end up with over 170 startups in the ecosystem.”
